Check the battery health before buying any Laptop?

 


As we all know Windows provides an option to see the current status (charging/not charging) of the battery. Double-tap on the battery icon on the Taskbar to know the battery percentage and its working capacity. 


Here you can choose either the Best Battery life or the Best performance.

But you can also get more details like battery cycle count, battery capacity, capacity remaining, etc from the command tool "powercfg". All you need to do is:

  • search cmd on windows
  • right-click on command prompt
  • run as an administrator
  • type powercfg /batteryreport and then press enter.
This command creates the battery report in the form of HTML file and shows the file location.

Copy the location (and past in any browser(Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc) For example Location shown in this image is C:/Windows/system32/battery-report.html.






If you keep scrolling down you can get more details like active mode and suspended mode. Active mode describes the laptop in use and the suspended mode refers to the condition when the laptop is in sleep or hibernation. Also, you can see when your laptop was running off the battery and when it was plugged into charging.
